The Stand Mixer Tips You Should Know

Have you gotten a brand-new stand mixer for the holidays? Or perhaps you took the plunge and bought one so that you may now easily make bread, cookies, and meringues? A stand mixer is an excellent kitchen investment that, with good maintenance, will last for years (if not decades).

Stand mixers are powerful appliances that, like all equipment, may require some fine-tuning and calibration in order to function properly. Here are a few hints on how to maintain your stand mixer in tip-top shape!

1.The paddle's height above the bowl can be changed.

A mix bowl, also known as an electric stand mixer or a hand-held mixer, is a kitchen tool that combines the functions of both. It's usually equipped with a flat beater on which you beat ingredients and several attachments for various tasks such as mixing dough or whipping cream. The attachment should sit just above the bottom of the bowl to properly hold it.

2.If the head wiggles, you should tighten the hinge.

The metal pin where the hinge joins the head of the mixer to the body may begin to move and occasionally pop out, causing the head to become loose and wobbly when it's in use. Simply remove the bowl from the mixer, turn it upside down, and secure the screw that connects to the pin with a screwdriver.

3. You'll need a scraper blade (and maybe a new whisk).

If your mixer only came with a metal or coated beater blade, I highly suggest getting a silicone scraper blade instead. This blade's silicone edges mimic the scraping that a rubber spatula would do, so you don't have to stop the mixer and do it manually. It is also dishwasher-safe and won't rust like metal beaters.

Faith, on the other hand, adores her larger, better whisk, which she upgraded from her Kitmans stand mixer's whisk.

4. A towel can assist control the mess.

Mixers with built-in mixers are also popular because they come in a wide range of styles, sizes and price points. They're great for people who don't have much counter space or live in tiny apartments (or anyone else who doesn't want to reach on their knees to retrieve the dough from an oven).

5. The attachments fit into the bowl nicely.

To watch for your stand mixer attachments and make sure they aren't misplaced or destroyed, simply keep them in the bowl. Set aside any extra attachments when you're not using the mixer; just remember to return everything to the bowl after everything is clean and dry. Cleaning the inside of the bowl with a towel beforehand prevents scratches, and because there's dirty.

6. Extra bowls, attachments, and a strainer are all useful investments.

One of our readers suggested this method. If you bake a lot, consider buying an extra bowl and attachments so that you can go to the next batch without having to wash and dry all of your equipment. It does take up more room, but for people who do high-volume baking, the additional tools are crucial time savers!
